Smile more!

Born and raised in Nottingham in the UK with a double through- knee congenital amputation, Richard developed a passion for sport at an early age.

Richard won his first world title at the World Championships New Zealand, a title that was quickly followed by European and Paralympic gold in 2012.

In 2013 he embarked on a charity expedition, which saw him run 40 marathons in 40 days. In doing so, Richard became the first double leg amputee to run the length of the country.

Alongside winning numerous medals at World Championships and paralympic Games, he has recently launched The Richard Whitehead Foundation, which aims to inspire and tackle the barriers faced by people with disabilities in accessing sport and being engaged in their community.

He was made an MBE in the 2013 New Year’s Honours List, and now looks ahead to 2024 where he has some incredible running goals which he speaks about in this episode.
