Join Dom on the latest Outside & Active Podcast where he is joined by GB Olympic Gold Medalist Rower, Helen Glover. This is the first of two parts discussing Cotswold Outdoor's #SaveOurOutdoor campaign.
Helen Glover is a product of the GB Rowing Team Start Programme, the ground-breaking talent identification and development initiative supported by National Lottery funding. Glover only took up rowing in 2008 and won a historic gold medal at the Olympic Games in London just four years later.
Her outstanding women’s pair partnership with Heather Stanning thrived under the guidance of coach Robin Williams and they became the first British female rowers to successfully defend an Olympic title when they won gold at Rio 2016.
That completed a perfect Olympiad for Glover in the pair – she won every race she competed in and claimed a hat-trick of world titles, one with Polly Swann and two with Stanning.
After stepping away from rowing to get married and have three children, Helen returned to the team in 2021 with the goal of being the first mother to compete for the GB Rowing Team.
Helen is also working with Cotswold Outdoor to bring awareness towards the effect we are having on the outdoor and how we each have a part to play. In the episode we talk through the images on the Cotswold Website (cotswoldoutdoor.com/news.html) which show us what our favourite outdoor locations will look like if we don’t take action against climate change now.
This episode is brought to you by Cotswold Outdoor, the outdoor experts.
They want to encourage everyone to play their part in protecting the planet so we can all continue enjoy the outdoor spaces we love, which is why they’ve launched the Save Our Outdoors campaign.
