Global running day is the perfect opportunity to celebrate the joy of running, and there are plenty of benefits to taking part.
Global Running Day or International Running Day 2022 is a worldwide celebration of running that encourages people of all ages and abilities to get moving. This day plays an important role, reminding us of the positives that running can offer and the power of unification. During the past two years, many people have turned to running as a solution to help release anxiety, gain perspective, cope with cabin fever, and keep up wellbeing. This year let’s run together on Global Running Day to reflect upon the challenges we’ve faced and how our communities have endured.
The team at Raccoon Events, the awesome folks behind Outside & Active and the organisers of the National Running Show and The Run Show USA are calling on our communities to pledge a distance to see if we, collectively, can run 500km on Global Running Day. The distance you pledge could be one mile or fifty 50 kilometers – it is entirely up to you.
It's no secret that running is one of the most popular forms of exercise. People of all ages and abilities can benefit from running, and it's a great way to get outside and enjoy the fresh air.
Regardless of whether you’re a seasoned running enthusiast or someone who’s just getting started, global running day is the perfect opportunity to get out there and enjoy the being outside and active. Not only is running a great way to get some exercise, but it’s also an excellent way to explore new places or run with new people. On global running day, people all over the world take to the streets, trails, and track to celebrate the joy of running.
Whether you run alone or with a group, global running day is a great opportunity to connect with other runners and share your love of the sport. And what could be better than that?
“Global Running Day, a time to embrace the joys (and benefits) of the sport and to inspire those around us to, get moving.”
“It is not just for physical fitness, but for emotional and mental fitness too and really, to be part of something that is so much bigger than yourself” – Deena Kastor, Olympian and American record holder.
We asked those at Team Raccoon for their inspiration and this is what they said:
“to inspire others that might not be able to run themselves”
“to join a global community and inspire others to take up running”
"to run with my pals and have a fun outside"
"to have a break from everything else going on in my life"
Mark your calendar for June 1, 2022, and plan to join people from all over the globe to get moving as part of Global Running Day.
