Mental health, running, charity, challenges, marathon kids – we talk about it all with this week’s podcast guest, Carl Orme.
Our latest guest, Carl Orme, is a former soldier and Army officer who found long distance running late in life. Since his first marathon in September 2019, he has now run three ultras and over 30 marathons including 10 in 10 days dressed as a giant breast for Breast Caner UK.
In 2022 Carl is running 26 marathons in 26 different ways including backwards, carrying an egg and spoon and with a bean bag on his head plus many more.
Carl love’s doing challenges particularly those that support charities through wonderfully different (and difficult) ways. Through this chat we find out more about what makes Carl tick and how he keeps motivated through each of these challenges.
We also talk to Carl about his involvement with Marathon Kids and getting children thinking about physical activity and how it benefits both their mental and physical fitness.
Carl also talks to Dom about mental health, particularly the challenges faced by men, who are less likely to talk about it.
Finally, Carl is the host of ‘Carl’s Instaviews’ which feature many of the Olympians and sportsmen/women that have been and continue to be NRS speakers and supporters. They can be found on his IGTV Channel or Podcast.@fightinthedadbod
