Even though she is only 15, Mia Brookes is one of the hottest prospects in the UK snow industry and has her sights set on the Winter Olympics in 2026. We were lucky enough to welcome Mia onto the latest episode of the Outside & Active Podcast.
Mia has been snowboarding since she was eighteen months old, travelling around Europe in the family motorhome. Mia met the GB Snowsport Freestyle coaches while out in Laax when she was ten years old and later that year was selected to the team’s development squad. During the following seasons Mia continued to train with GB Snowsport Freestyle coaches in Laax, Livigno and Hintertux and enjoyed competing in the World Rookie Tour comps.
In her senior debut at the Europa Cup slopestyle in Corvatsch, Switzerland in December 2020 Mia exploded onto the senior scene grabbing a spot on the podium, placing second.
Even though she’s merely a teenager, Mia Brookes already rides with the style and trick selection of a seasoned vet. From the age of 10 onward, she was supported by Great Britain Snowsport Freestyle coaches and began competing in World Rookie Tour comps. Today, the young British ripper is just as comfortable tweaking bio airs and rotations as she is getting tech on rails and ledges. With her skate-inspired flow and decked out in signature camo snow gear, Mia has been hitting the world’s best snow parks and learning new tricks along the way for the past seasons.
The biggest sponsors have already signed her across boards, bindings, goggles, and boots. In early 2022, Mia became a household name by winning the Junior World Championships in Big Air and placing second in Slopestyle. At age 15! The BBC already heralds her as a prospect for the 2026 Olympics, but she’s taking it one step at a time: We can’t wait until Mia is old enough to compete at World Cup events and see what she’ll do next!
