eMTB UCI World Cup 2023 will see 14 teams using the Performance Line CX Race drive system
In 2022, Jérôme Gilloux (FRA) and Nicole Göldi (SUI) were among the athletes using Bosch eBike drive systems to win the UCI E-MTB XC World Champion rainbow jersey. In the same year, the Enduro World Series (EWS-E) also saw Flo Espiñeira (ESP) as the overall victor using a Bosch-powered eMTB.
Heading into the 2023 season, Bosch is further underlining its commitment to eMTB racing, supporting more teams than ever before, providing neutral race support and hosting its first official test camp. Bosch will also introduce the special Performance Line CX Race Limited Edition on the product side.
From June 1-3, 2023, the first UCI eEnduro World Cup (EDR-E) will begin in Finale Ligure, Italy, putting Enduro racing at the top of the world cycling stage. A total of 14 professional teams now rely on drive systems from Bosch eBike Systems – including newcomers Canyon, Commencal, Haibike and Ibis. "This close cooperation with the world's best athletes gives us valuable input for product development in the eMTB racing sector," says Claus Fleischer, CEO of Bosch eBike Systems. "The fastest riders on the world's toughest race tracks complement our own developments perfectly."
The collaboration introduces the Performance Line CX Race Limited Edition drive system, which will be ridden by all teams this year. Thanks to its low weight, up to 400% support of rider pedal force and the exclusive Race mode, the drive system will impress the most talented rider. Professional eMTB racer Flo Espiñeira says that the CX-Race drive provides an entirely different level of support and dynamism, allowing riders to go not only "faster, fast"
but also "faster for longer."
Bosch eBike Systems will once again be present at all World Cup races with a neutral race support team to provide riders with the best possible support during competitions. "We want to support athletes at a world-class level in the best possible way. Our Race Support helps all riders with assistance with our products, regardless of their team structure. The 2023 season marks a new milestone for eMTB racing and we are keen to play an active role in shaping this development"
explains Claus Fleischer.
At the beginning of the season, Bosch invited professional eMTB racing teams to a multi-day test camp, providing riders with insights on the individual tuning of riding modes via the Bosch eBike Flow app and battery management. "In Race mode, fine-tuning via the Flow app on your smartphone makes a big difference. Here, the drive can be optimally adjusted to your own preferences and track conditions,"
Ines Thoma from the Canyon/Bosch athlete team noted at the end of the test camp.
What is it that fascinates racers about the growing discipline of eMTB racing? What, to them, is the key difference between mountain bike races with and without electric support? In short, why do they love eMTB racing? Bosch’s professional athletes answer these questions in a video produced at the end of the 2022 racing season in Finale Ligure - watch here.
